The Design a Kombi competition is an annual creative initiative by Tavcor Volkswagen, giving young artists in the Gqeberha / Port Elizabeth community the opportunity to showcase their talents. Open to both primary and high school learners, this exciting competition encourages students to let their imaginations run wild and design a unique artwork for a Volkswagen Kombi.

How Design a Kombi works

Each year, the competition is centered around a new theme, sparking creativity and artistic expression. Participants can download an official entry form featuring an outline of the vehicle, which they illustrate by hand according to the given theme.

Once entries close, winners are chosen via a combination of public voting and the final judging process. The competition culminates in an awards ceremony where the winning designs are announced.

Over and above cash prizes, the overall winning design is wrapped onto the Tavcor Volkswagen demonstration Kombi, transforming it into a moving canvas that celebrates young talent. This beautifully designed vehicle is then presented at the winner’s school, giving them the recognition they deserve.
